Wind farm Neeltje Jans
The wind turbines are situated in a square around the harbour Neeltje Jans close to the visitor centre Delta Expo on the Oosterscheldekering (municipality Veere).
Windpark Neeltje-Jans BV is a joint-venture of Triodos Renewables Europe Fund and E-Connection. The wind farm consisting of three wind turbines started operation in the summer of 2006. In 2012 a fourth wind turbine was realized.
From 1991 to early 2006 a wind farm comprising eight 250 kW wind turbines was operational at this site. These eight wind turbines, of an older generation, produced less than one tenth of the energy production of the present four wind turbines. E-Connection Project secured the permits for the construction and operation of the wind farm and managed the contracting, installation and commissioning. E-Connection executes the daily management of the operating company.
By remote control system the wind farm is controlled and monitored continuously by the operators from E-Connection.
